Long Xiong immigrated to the United States from Thailand in 1992 and grew up in South Minneapolis. As a first-generation police officer, he began his law enforcement career in 2008 with the University of Minnesota Police Department (UMPD), where he became the department’s first Hmong police officer.
Throughout his career, Xiong has continued to advance through the ranks, earning promotions to Sergeant and ultimately Lieutenant. His career reflects a commitment to public service, leadership, and creating opportunities for others in the community.
